No More Big Boy Bed

Jake has been a naughty boy the past two days. He has refused to take a nap and instead has emptied the contents of his dressers 4 times now. He also figured out that if he climbs into the middle drawer of this dresser, he can then climb onto the top of it. I've gone to check on him several times and found him sitting 3 1/2 feet in the air on the dresser. Up until this week he had been doing very well with the big boy bed, but we decided to put him back in the crib now for his safety. Now, how long until he figures out how to jump out of the crib?

Jake and Santa

Jake was not interested in seeing Santa this year at all. He recognizes him and says "Santa," but wants to stay at a distance. Today, he grabbed this Santa figurine and sat with him in the chair while watching cartoons. Looks like this is the only Santa and Jake picture we will get this year.
Jake and I made cookies today for Santa. Jake helped me decorate them.

He didn't understand the concept of shaking the sprinkles and instead jammed the container into the cookies causing many of them to be disfigured.

Thanksgiving

We visited the Cooper side on Thanksgiving day. It was such a nice day we were able to get a family picture in.
Jake had to have his own private photo shoot too!
Jake and Hope snuck away from the adults to go jump on the bed. They got along really well and were seeing who could jump the highest before taking a nose dive on the mattress.
After all the fun they enjoyed watching some cartoons together.

Christmas Tree

We put our Christmas Tree up the day after Thanksgiving. Here is a picture of Jake helping put the limbs in. We'll get some pictures of the finished tree and the outdoor lights posted soon.

Waffles...

Jake loves waffles...frozen waffles that is. He opens the freezer, grabs a waffle, and starts nibbling away. We always ask him if he wants it toasted and he says "No!" and runs away with his snack.

Go Colts!

Every Sunday Jake puts on his Colts shirt, says "Go Colts" and "Touchdown", and points out the horseshoe on everybody's shirt. However, this past Sunday he felt like he needed to wear more blue and added the hat and gloves to his wardrobe even though it was 70 degrees outside.

Halloween

Jake enjoyed watching Daddy carve the pumpkin but was unsure of the finished product.

Jake didn't want anything to do with his costume this year. After buying all the clothing and accessories to be a cowboy, Jake would only try on the vest and hat. And that didn't last any longer than 30 seconds! We only made it to the neighbors house to Trick or Treat, but he did enjoy the doorbell ringing numerous times and seeing all of the other kids in their costumes.

Outdoor Play Time!

We haven't gotten around to buying our own play set yet, so we visit the school, park, and church playgrounds often. Jake definitely has a favorite at each playground and it's always a slide. Here are a few pictures from a birthday party at Independence Park for Jake's second cousin Hope.

Cartoons

All of a sudden Jake has become interested in cartoons. He loves to kick back with a tall cup of milk and enjoy. He also noticed one of the little boys on Little Einsteins wears glasses, so he found some at Nana's and had to try them on.

Learning to Fly

With a little encouragement from Daddy, Jake has learned that it doesn't hurt to jump on pillows. Lately he has been begging that we pull all of the cushions off of the couch so he can dive into them. So far he has landed on the pillows every time :-)

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes

Jake has a fascination with shoes. He always passes shoes out when it's time to go and always puts them on the shoe rack when we get home. Here are a few pictures of Jake trying on Mommy and Daddy's shoes.

18 month update

Jake went to the doctor for his 18 month check-up earlier in this month. He is doing great! He is 34.5 inches tall and weighs 25 lbs. 3 oz. - still very tall and skinny, just like his Daddy. Here are some recent pictures of Jake at the zoo. This was the first time he was able to pet the goats. He ran around petting all of them and wasn't afraid at all.

Camping at McCormick's Creek

We went camping last weekend at McCormick's Creek State Park. We went with our new neighbors and Matt & Erin. Here are some pictures of Jake having a great time. He has camping in his blood.
What - the hole isn't for my feet? Jake had a ton of fun playing on the corn hole boards.
We went to Wolf Cave. Here we are at the entrance. Daddy, Uncle Matt, & Aunt Erin went through the cave. The rest of us stayed at the entrance and played.

Does he look ready to hike the Grand Canyon yet?

End of Summer Update

Jake enjoyed riding on the lawnmower (blades off) with Daddy. He is pretty good at using the stearing wheel.
Jake's first "big boy" haircut with the clippers.
Jake with his State Farm t-shirt on. Who knows if he will carry on the family tradition. Notice how huge his feet are!
We went to an Indians game on Friday with Nana, Grandpa, Matt, & Erin. Here Jake is trying to figure out what he is supposed to do with the chicken leg.
Jake had a great time at the game, climbing all over the fence.

Say Cheese

Jake had a great time playing at Mamaw & Papaw's house this weekend. He really had fun playing in the new barn which is almost finished.

Jake looks like such a big boy sitting in Daddy's chair.

Monkey Boy climbing on top of the TV. Notice the gorilla on the TV screen. I guess the nickname is fitting!
