Why bother with toys?

I don't know why we spend any money on toys. Jake enjoys every day items around the house.
Jake likes to put his sippy cups inside of other cups. At dinner, he decided to put his cup inside of this pitcher. It was a little more challenging to drink out of than usual.

We just restocked our paper towels from Sam's Club. Jake enjoyed carrying them around the house and building towers. Daddy helped Jake build this really tall tower and then knock it down.

Jake's Two!

Jake turned 2 years old on March 6th! We just had his 2 year old check up at the doctor and his birthday party this weekend. The doctor said Jake is doing great. He is 36.5 inches tall and 28 lbs. 2 oz.

Jake's party was Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme - his favorite cartoon. We made the cake ourselves and think it turned out pretty well (thanks Amber for the decorating supplies:).

Nana and Grandpa got Jake a Mickey Mouse cell phone. He knew exactly what to do with it.

You can see several of Jake's presents here. He loved his new crocs and Junior Zoo Keeper vest. The vest pockets were perfect for his new cell phone. Jake will have fun playing with his new Tonka trucks in the yard this summer too.

Uncle Matt & Aunt Erin got Jake a lawnmower that blows bubbles. Luckily it was a nice day so Jake could take it for a test run.

Before the party Jake had a cough. As the day went on, he seemed to be wearing down. He got this new sleeping bag for his birthday and decided it was time to go night-night even though his party was still going on.

My chair!

Jake still won't give up Daddy's chair. For cartoon time, he hops right in and sets his cup on the coaster. On this day, he even decided to be polite and cross his legs. If we are lucky, he scoots over and asks one of us to sit next to him.

Over the past month Jake has gotten a lot better at letting us know what he wants. He's not always happy when he lets us know, but at least we have an idea of what he wants. In the pictures below he first went to get a spoon then walked to the refrigerator. We opened it and he grabbed his yogurt right away. And of course the entire time he was saying "gogurt, gogurt, gogurt..."
Jake has also learned that he can get water out of the refrigerator door. Luckily there is a lock feature on the water dispenser and we have now told him the water is broken. Wonder how long it will take before he figures out how to unlock it???
We've also taught Jake how to wash his hands. Maybe this wasn't the best idea...now all he wants to do is get his stool and play with the water in the sink. At least his hands are clean!
He loves being in the car and "driving." Every time we start the car up he says "vrooom vrooom." He also likes to grab our keys and press the panic button and say "beep beep!" Here are some pics of us playing in Daddy's car.
